The International Budo Academy is an independent educational institute founded by like-minded Martial Artists who have been practicing Budo for many years. The Academy prepares Martial Artists for quality teaching and certifies instructors, teachers and masters of various levels. The Academy also offers a range of academic degrees, including a PhD in Martial Arts.

 

The Academy has set to itself the goal to broaden the professional horizons of Senior Budoka, to encourage research, writing and preservation of classical Budo.  The Academy functions as an independent professional union with the goal of upgrading, developing and improving the education of its members and students, and has set down a professional code of ethics, promoting the public image of the classical Martial Arts and Martial Artists.

 

The International Budo Academy is approved & accredited by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport to train,  qualify and officially authorize.

Academic degrees:  The International Budo Academy offers the chance to earn an academic degree in the Martial Arts.  Three degrees are offered:  B.A., M.A and Ph.D.  The student studying towards a degree chooses a domain to focus on, from teaching studies, Martial Arts research, Martial Arts history, style analysis and the philosophy and ethics of Budo.

Instructor and Teacher Qualification:  The Academy offers comprehensive training for Martial Arts teachers and instructors.  Five types of qualifications are available:  Assistant Instructor, Instructor, Teacher, Senior Teacher and Master, each with its own set of theoretical course requirements and practical training experience requirements.

Accreditation of Martial Arts Degrees:  The Academy validates and accredits Dan degrees as well as Dan degree upgrades, providing an official stamp of approval for a Martial Artist’s knowledge and experience.

Registration of Martial Arts Schools:  Professional Martial Arts schools may be registered at the Academy and thus affiliated with the Academy and its members.  Registration requires submission of valid school and teacher credentials.
